Dr. Omar Darr is an orthopedic surgeon with Advocate Aurora Healthcare who has been in practicing in Milwaukee for 15 years. Castle Connolly has selected him as one of America's Top Surgeons and has featured him in The New York Times. Milwaukee Magazine has named Dr. Darr a Top Doctor in both Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. He is one of the highest rated doctors in Wisconsin on popular patient review websites.
As a specialist in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery, Dr. Darr's goal is to help people of all ages stay healthy and active. Most conditions can be successfully treated without surgery. However, when surgery is indicated many of the procedures the doctor performs are done arthroscopically using small incisions. With these techniques, patients recover as quickly as possible. He has takes care of every day people as well as athletes from recreational to professional.
After completing high school in Cleveland where he was a selected to the All State football team, Dr. Darr received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University (with honors). There he was a three year starter on the football team. He went on to receive his medical degree with honors from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and then went on to complete an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. His training also includes a Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery Fellowship from the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York where he focused on the treatment of knee and shoulder conditions.
His special interests include ACL, meniscus and knee cap injuries in the knee, as well as shoulder labral tears and rotator cuff problems. He also specializes in knee replacement surgery. He is the team physician for Whitefish Bay High School athletics and the Lakeshore Chinooks baseball team. In 2009, he was a recipient of The Milwaukee Business Journal's "40 under 40" award. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery and has obtained a subspecialty certificate in sports medicine by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
